Packer/Shipper – 1st shift

U.S. Axle, Inc., a certified ISO company, is a family-owned manufacturer of precision axles, shafts and cylinders for Industrial OEM’s.  We are proud to have celebrated our 100-year anniversary in 2020.  We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill an opening for a Shipper/Packer in our machine shop.  U.S. Axle provides a rich comprehensive benefits package including medical, prescription, vision, dental, short-term disability, life and 401(k) with company contribution.  There is a minimal weekly cost share via payroll deduction for the medical benefits and then almost 100% of all services, exams, prescriptions, tests and procedures are covered in full.  Dependents and spouses are eligible.

The primary function of this position is to prepare finished products for shipment or storage by placing in containers, identifying by marking or labeling the product and maintaining finished parts.  This position also receives, identifies, and stores items as well as performs simple carpentry work to the extent of designing and construction of boxes, cartons and skids used for shipment of finished products.

Position duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Counting, preparing and packing a variety of finished products in cartons, boxes, crates, skids, etc.
  • Designing and constructing standard and non-standard tubes, boxes, cartons, etc. for shipment.
  • Checking packing slips, weighing shipments and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Wire brushing and cleaning parts as necessary.
  • Loading and unloading trucks as required.
  • Following a white board for assigned priorities.
  • Moving material from work station to temporary storage or next work station.
  • Recording work processed on process control documents and time tickets.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work station and equipment.
  • Complying with all safety regulations and shop rules.
  • Timely completion of shipping supplies inventory weekly as assigned.

Qualified candidate should be familiar with using a computer, banding machines, wire brushes, simple hand tools, prints, sketches, hoists, transporters, forklifts, scales, various types of finished products, shipping and packing supplies such as rust preventatives, oils, box fillers, lumber, screws, nails, box separators and carpentry tools such as saws, hammers, screw drivers, table saws, pneumatic tools, etc. Ability to follow directions is critical.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

This position pays $24.01 per hour and is for 1st shift (6am-2pm).

Full time (40 hours per week).
