Position Overview: We are seeking a driven and eager Engineering Intern to join our team in Pottstown, PA. This role is perfect for high school or college students who want to gain practical experience in engineering within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will work on-site closely with seasoned professionals, learning critical skills that will set the foundation for a successful engineering career.
Key Responsibilities/learning objectives:
- Assist in interpreting and signing off on process documentation
- Learn and apply blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques
- Write up, tag, and process nonconforming parts
- Use inspection instrumentation to ensure product quality
- Analyze scrap data by part number
- Value Stream Mapping
- Gain exposure to:
- Turning
- Milling
- Hobbing
- Sawing
- Straightening
- Gun drilling
- Induction hardening
- Metallurgical principles
- Metallographic practices
- Shot peening
- General tooling principles
- Spline & thread data
- Statistical methods of problem-solving and process evaluation
- Destructive and non-destructive testing methods
- Coatings / Platings
- Part preservation / packaging
- Quality-related activities such as gage R&R studies, Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
- CAD/CAM/CMM
- Interacting with customers & suppliers (outsourcing), both existing and pending
Qualifications:
- Current high school or college student with a strong interest in engineering or a related field
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing processes is a plus
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) is advantageous but not required
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
