We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill an opening for a CNC Programming Engineer. This position will report to the President.

This position works closely with:
- Manufacturing & Quality Engineers to assure optimum process flow through machine centers and the plant; attain customer specifications and quality standards; reduce costs of processing, and maintain safety in the shop.
- Scheduling / Customer Service to assure schedules and product specifications are met, including delivery dates.
- Business Development (Sales and Marketing) to develop processes and reduce costs while assuring quality throughout the relationship with the customer. Will assist with quoting and process recommendations.
- Purchasing to assure material and tooling specifications are properly established and met.
- Shop Machine Operators (hourly personnel) to maximize standard quality pieces per machine-hour and man-hour using approved processes and techniques to attain lowest cost and a safe work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review customer drawings and specifications, evaluate plant capabilities and develop process instructions to define flows and specifications to enable production of a quality part at the lowest cost. This would include creation of process instructions, project management, CNC programming of processing machinery, design and selection of fixturing, and selection of tooling as required to complete the part as specified.
- Improve and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, reduce costs, improve product quality and oversee quick turnaround parts through the manufacturing operation
- Participate in shop floor activities to attain targeted operational performance, evaluate process efficiencies, and fulfill implementation of start-up or revised process flows and procedures.
Interface with customers and vendors as needed on:
- Part design / specifications
- Raw material selection
- Process control / cost improvement
- Advanced quality techniques
- Project coordination
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline: such as, mechanical, industrial or metallurgical engineering with a minimum of 3 years of related experience preferred or a minimum of 7 years of related experience in machine shop operations.
- Specific experience should include: Industrial and manufacturing techniques; CNC Programming; Statistical methods for problem solving; Tool/ Fixture design; Cylindrical Grinding experience; Induction hardening or heat treatment background; Gear cutting /hobbing experience
- Strong CNC programming and mechanical design skills are highly desirable for this position.
- Familiarity with heat induction hardening process, SPC, FMEA, PPAP and ISIR is beneficial.
- Experience with programming close tolerance CNC Multi-Axis Lathe & Milling, CNC Hob and Grinding desired.
- Experience with quoting and estimating is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer skills are essential to being effective in the position. The company currently utilizes Microsoft Office programs for general application functions, AutoCad2000, SmartCam and Mastercam for Engineering and Manufacturing functions and an integrated, small manufacturing system called Vantage by Epicor.
- Travel requirements are minimal, but could include domestic, Canada, and Mexico (dependent on health & safety protocol).
